Poker Game Among Buddies Stormed By Robbers
A group of three masked armed men barged into a poker game in a private residence and nabbed the entire pot amounting to about $4,000.
The robbery took place at 10:45 in the evening on Sunday, October 1, at the home of Gary Davis. The 39-year-old Davis lives in the 1100 block of Ridgeway Drive in Killeen.
Daivs said that there were eight to 10 participants in the poker game that they were holding that evening.
"I don't think they (the robbers) kicked in the door. I think the door was left unlocked by somebody who just left," Davis said. "Normally, we make sure the door is locked. Somebody didn't take care of business that time."
As the players were mulling over their hands, they suddenly heard one of the robbers shout "Don't move! Don't move"
"I thought the police were coming in," Davis said, "and somebody was going out when they were coming in, and the police were talking to that individual."
"Me, sitting over here, I couldn't see what was actually happening. The woman who was sitting here (in view of the door) was speechless.
"And finally, when she was able to say, Gun!' here come three masked individuals through the hallway - two with handguns and the other one with what looked like an AK-47 - peeping around the corner."
The robbers demanded the money and Davis directed them to a locked compartment under a sink. The crooks finally took off with the money.
Davis said he is at a loss as to how the three black males knew that a poker game was taking place inside his house and the right time to get inside.
"Three of them came in, but only one roamed around the room," Davis said. "The other two didn't come any further than the end of the hallway. They just stuck their guns in here and scared everybody."
Davis said he was on his way to moving out the home, as the owner of the house is returning shortly from overseas. |
